Salt or no salt?
ScaleStop vs. a water softener.
ScaleStop — salt-free conditioning
ScaleStop conditions water against scale without salt or softening: beneficial minerals stay in the water and pass harmlessly through your plumbing. No salt bags, no discharge, no wastewater. It is not a softener and won't give the “slippery” soft-water feel. Best for water up to 20 grains hardness.
Softener — full hardness removal
A traditional softener removes hardness minerals entirely — the classic soft-water feel, maximum protection for fixtures and appliances. Softener packages include reverse osmosis at the kitchen tap for sodium-conscious drinking water.
